Strategies[]
Vane can prove to be a difficult challenge for incoming players used to the mechanics of previous dragon bosses, but her behavior can be easily predicted with practice. While the Resist Burn perk can prevent Aether Fire from being inflicted, the raw damage and knockback from her attacks can still be very effective against unsuspecting players.
- Staying out of reach from Vane's Aether Breath (Forward) and Wing Attack is absolutely critical while Arena Fire is active, as players can be temporarily trapped outside of the protected area due to knockback.
- Air Strike's locations are dependent on Vane's last position in the arena, so it is recommended to move as far away as possible to minimize the chances of being caught in one of the fire trails.
- Unlike Air Strike, Flame Spiral always follows the same pattern regardless of Vane's last position in the arena, so tracking where the spiral moves can help with identifying safe areas that the trail has yet to reach.
- Players should move far away while Meteor Rain is active, as each succeeding meteor will land closer to the player than the last.
- Melee classes can move Vane away from her Defense Spray fire by running away in order to be able to attack safely again.
- As a Dragoon, using Infinity Strike after getting stuck under Vane can greatly increase damage output. While it can be useful when used effectively, this strategy can easily backfire when Defense Spray or Aether Breath (Down) are active and can cause the player to fling and take damage in the Arena Fire.
- As a Summoner, Lesser Summons should be exploded shortly before an attack ends or as soon as they are summoned due to Vane's frequent invulnerability and large-radius attacks.
