Strategies[]

Klaus can be an extremely difficult boss for new players, but knowing how and when to dodge his quick attacks is the key to survival.

  • Laser Eyes will always shoot at the same distance from the boss, even if at different angles. Standing directly in front of Klaus is often safer than attempting to attack him from just behind the ice line.
  • Green presents can be useful if thrown near the player for the attack buff, but presents thrown far away can waste time or even increase the risk of getting hit by Power Stomp or Cross Slam.
  • The ice floor can be a large annoyance and make it difficult to dodge attacks or mobs that spawn from the arena portals. Jumping negates most velocity built up from sliding on the ice.
    • As any melee class, using your basic attack will cancel all built up velocity.
  • Cross Slam becomes harder to dodge the farther away the player is from the boss. Staying near Klaus and jumping to his sides can make it much easier to survive while dealing damage at the same time.
  • As a Guardian, all of Klaus' moves except Ice Wall can easily be tanked with Aggro Defense. Using this can keep him distracted from other players in a party, which can be especially useful for summons and less skilled allies.
  • As a Dragoon, using Infinity Strike will often fling the player out of the arena. Using basic attacks to stay still on the ground immediately after the skill ends can remedy this issue.
  • As a Summoner, move closely around your summons to keep Klaus within their attack range and explode them before Klaus uses any dangerous attacks against them.
    • Presents do not deal damage to summons, so it is recommended to prioritize your own safety for the duration of Present Throw.
  • As a Shadowblade, avoid using Shadow Leap while Klaus is next to the Ice Wall as his back may be turned towards its hitbox.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being a level 135 boss, Klaus has a 10% chance to drop an orange Empowering Stone when defeated.
  • Klaus' giant form is borrowed from Zeus, Lord of the Sky, where he appears as a giant to strike the arena with lightning bolts and a hammer beam.
  • Klaus' design is heavily inspired by Nicholas The Renegade from Sword Art Online.
  • Klaus is both the first event boss and the first enemy to give players positive effects.
  • Klaus and The Fallen King are currently both the only two recurring event bosses and the only two bosses to receive a major rework.
  • There's an ice statue of Korrupted Klaus at the secret summit area in World 3.
